ABOUT
My name is Tracy Vail. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work with animals. I am proud to say my dream has become my reality. I have worked and volunteered in several animal-related fields, including but not limited to wildlife, exotics, veterinarians, detection dogs, marine life, animal shelters, etc. I have worked around several different species of animals, including tigers, cougars, birds of prey, dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, horses, etc.
I served as the Senior Humane Officer for the Humane Society of Ventura County. During my sixteen years as an officer, I investigated thousands of abuse and neglect complaints. I oftentimes educated animal owners on how to properly care for their animals. The most rewarding part of this job was rescuing an animal from an unfit environment and seeing the animal’s life changed for the better with guidance and T.L.C. For each dog that I rescued, I was dedicated to changing the dog’s life for the better. I enjoyed training dogs that were showing behavior signs and working on improving their behavior during their stay at the shelter. By teaching basic obedience commands and no jumping or mouthing I was able to increase the chances of the dog being a more desirable candidate for adoption.
I played a large role in the adoption process as well, meeting with potential adopters, selecting the perfect new home, and often times working with the new adopters on training and behavior in their home. The process proved to highly decrease the chance of a dog being returned to the shelter.
Throughout my career with animals, I have found a special bond with dogs. There is just something special about a companion that is always there to greet you after a long day. Over the years, I have developed an interest in dog behavior and training. I saw a need to do something more for myself and the dogs that I rescued. I felt it was important to take it upon myself to learn as much as I could about the field. I received my certification in dog training through the Animal Behavior College. I mentored with three dog trainers. I attended and participated in several dog training and behavior workshops and conferences. I attended animal wellness and nutrition courses. I have volunteered with several animal organizations and was a dedicated volunteer at the Search Dog Foundation. I worked alongside devoted staff and trainers at their national training center location.
I was amazed how my demeanor, body language, and approach can change the behavior of a dog. This has strong emphases on how I train. I have handled thousands of dogs with various sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I enjoy a challenge and seeing the positive results that can happen with the dedication from an owner willing to put in the time and dedication for themselves and the family dog.
My passion is working with dogs and people. Developing and mastering the bond between dogs and people. I am confident that I can help you and your family eliminate any behavior problem you may be facing with your dog.
